Sandwich
is popular street food of India.
Sandwich is commonly made with mashed potato, tomato, onion, kheera
(kakkadi), capsicum and sandwiched between chutney and buttery bread slices,
then cooked in sandwich maker, toaster
or on grill. Today’s dish is with mixed
vegetable and made on tawa. This recipe
of sandwich can be good for lunch box recipes. If packing these sandwich for the
afternoon, ensure wrap it in a tissue and then in a foil, it will prevent the
sandwich getting soggy.
Let’s
start to making these Tawa Sandwich -
Ingredients required for Vegetable Sandwich recipe
on Tawa
7-8 Bread Slices or as required
Two Potato (Peeled & sliced)
Two Potato (Peeled & sliced)
One Onion (finely chopped)
One Totamto (finely chopped)
One cup of Green peas (Hara matar )
One tsp of Ginger Garlic paste
Two Green chillies (finely chopped)
Two Green chillies (finely chopped)
Salt to taste
One tsp of Red chili powder
one tsp of Coriander powder
one tsp of Coriander powder
Garam Masala – ½ tsp
Cummins (Jeera) powder – ½ tsp
Turmeric (Haldi) Powder – ½ tsp
Chat Masala – ½ tsp
Chat Masala – ½ tsp
Butter (Makkhan) - 2 slices (50
grams)
Green (Hari) Chutney – 1 tbsp
Oil – as reuired
How to make the Sandwich on Tawa
Heat
a kadai with one tbsp oil and then add ginger garlic paste and chopped green
chillies. Saute these for few seconds, Add
chopped onion and saute till slightly soften.
Now,
add sliced potato and green peas. Cook these for about 2 minutes. After then
add turmeric, red chilli and coriander powder. Mix well and add sliced tomato
and salt to taste. Mix and cook well. Once the mix is cooked well, add garam masala,
jeera powder and coriander leaves. Slightly mash the mixture with masher or
bottom of steel glass.
Heat
a tawa, spread the butter on tawa. Take
bread slices, On one slice, spread a layer of green chutney and then spread mashed
mixture. Then put some onion rings and tomato slice on it. Spread some chat
masala and on another slice of bread, spread tomato sauce and put on first
one. Repeat the same process with
remaining bread slice and mashed mixture. Put these sandwiches on Tawa and Roast both sides. Keep flame on low otherwise
bread slice will be burn. Roast from both side the sandwich till the bread becomes crisp. Serve hot with tomato sauce and chutney.
